Post-it Notes, skyways and Betty Crocker were all created in Minneapolis Saint Paul. This metro area is home to 18 Fortune 500 companies (21 statewide) specializing or leading the industry in retail, energy, aviation, medical devices, food product development. Innovation is the root of the local business community. Founded on entrepreneurial spirits – look at the pacemaker, bundt pans, Wheaties, Rollerblades and sandpaper. Research institutions like the University of Minnesota are based here. In a lab at the U of M, Doris Taylor created the first artificial beating heart. Minnesota has dedicated and smart workforces and knows no boundaries.
